Florence taxis

Taxis in Florence are white and are readily available thoughout the city centre at taxi ranks which you can find mostly at the main piazzas. Taxis are quite convenient because they have access to most streets which are otherwise closed to regular traffic.

Taxis are considerably more costly than other forms of shared public transport, and be aware that there may be surcharges for luggage, or if you are travelling late at night. The charges however are regulated by the Commune (Council) of Florence and you can read the official tariffs on this webpage:

Official Taxi Tarifs Florence

If you are travelling from the outskirts of Florence, it is better to call for a taxi, however bear in mind that the companies may charge from the time you make the call.

Florence’s major taxi company is Socota and on the website you can find out more information on fares, taxi ranks and the phone numbers to easily reach them.

    Dear Xavier,
thanks a lot for your email, unfortunately we can’t quote yout the best price for hiring a taxi in Florence, since we’re not a taxi company, but a group of people keen on Tuscany, that gives useful information to all those people who are going to visit our region or simply want to learn more about it!
I’ve just found something on the net which you may find useful, have a look at those websites, there are information on bus timetable from Florence to the Mall and Florentine taxi companies phone numbers: http://www.radiotaxifirenze.it/http://www.acvbus.it/orari/ORARIO%20THE%20MALL%202011.pdf

Get back to us whenever you want or need information on Tuscany, I hope this email will help you easily get to the outlets!

    So…have a nice stay in Tuscany :-)

I will visit Florence this summer with a group of friends. We will spend all the time together. However, I have to fly back home alone because I have to go back a few days earlier than my friends. The flight is at 7am. That means, I have to be in the airport at 5am. I am a female, 21 years old. Do you think it is a good idea to go to the airport by taxi at 4:30-5am? I am concern about the safety. Is there any safer transportation?\

    Thank you very much

    Dear Jessica,
I suppose you will be flying from and to Amerigo Vespucci Airport in Florence, so you won’t need to go to the airport before 5 AM, since the check-in desks open at 5 only. You may arrive there by taxi or by bus as well, the Florence bus company ATAF offers a service of transportation to and from the airport, it should take about 15-20 minutes only, but the first bus leaves at 5 AM from Florence (have a look at ATAF web site: http://www.ataf.net/en/timetables-and-routes/timetables-and-routes/line-volainbus.aspx?idC=180&idO=0&Linea=Volainbus&LN=en-US). You should be there on time anyway, but if you prefer arriving earlier (at 5 I mean), you need to take a taxi. There’s no need to worry about the safety, have a look at both those web sites for more information and details on this topic:

I’m traveling to Carmignano at the end of July (5 days away) and want details of the most reasonably priced taxi company that I can use either in carmignano or nearby. I’ve had quotes for 2 or 3k journeys that cost 30 or more euros for one journey.

I’m traveling on a budget and want to keep my costs low.

    Hi!
First of all, congratulations on the excellent job you’re doing here!
I’m due to arrive in Florence on Monday, 15 August, at 19:00, and want to catch a taxi to San Giusto. I just found out it’s a public holiday and was wondering if I may have trouble finding a taxi at the airport. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Comninos

Hello, I am arriving at the Train Station in Florence mid day September 20. I need to travel from the Train Station to San Quirico in Collina, a small town south west. I will be returning to the Florence train station the following afternoon, September 21. I am trying to determine if renting a car or taking a taxi is a better option.

Any idea if a taxi would travel to San Quirico in Collina and what the fare might be?

    Thanks.

    Nice work at this website!!
We are going only a short distance from the Duomo to the train station. do you think that it will be hard to get a taxi because of the short distance and lower fare?
    Grazie,
    CJC

    Hello,
I think there should be no problem to take a taxi from the train station till Duomo. Anyway, I advise you to have a look at this website of http://www.radiotaxifirenze.it/eng. Here you can see taxi fares: http://www.radiotaxifirenze.it/eng/taxi-fares.

I have a stay at a villa in Scandicci and wanted to try to save money by taking the tram into Scandicci and finding a taxi to take me to the villa. Will there be taxis in Scandicci available at tram stops or will I have to call one. If I call one will it be coming from FLorence anyhow and cost as much as if I had taken it from Florence?

  19. chiarab Says:
    March 27th, 2012 at 10:10

    Hi Kim,
I phoned for you the Comune of Scandicci (http://www.comune.scandicci.fi.it/index.php/turismo.html) and they told me that there are taxis in Scandicci near the tram exit.
In any case I suggest you to ask the owner of the villa where you will stay if he can come to get you at the tram stop. If the villa is in Scandicci, it shouldn’t be a problem.
    Enjoy your holiday in Tuscany!
