Pisa International Airport is located just 2 kms (1 mile) north of Pisa city centre, near the Tyrrhenian coast. Pisa airport has excellent train connections and direct access to the Florence-Pisa-Livorno dual carriageway and the motorways including the A12 (Genova – Rosignano).

The Compagnia Pisana Trasporti (CPT) runs the bus line number 3 which runs from the departures terminal at the airport to the Pisa Centrale train station in around 7 minutes, traffic permitting. The bus leaves every 20 minutes. Going to the airport the stop for the no. 3 bus is just to the left outside the station in Piazza Stazione.

Pisa Galileo Galilei Airport boasts the closest rail link of all European airports and the platform is located just outside the departures hall. Trains run to Pisa Central Station from where you can take trains to Florence, Prato, Lucca, Viareggio, Rome, Genoa, Torino and Montecatini among other cities. You can buy a ticket at the information office in the arrivals hall of the airport. There are 10 direct connections between Pisa Airport and Firenze Santa Maria Novella railway station a day. The Pisa-Florence line also runs through San Miniato, Montelupo Fiorentina, and Empoli – from where you can get trains to Siena.

By taxi:

The taxi service is run by CO.TA.PI (Pisa taxi cooperative) and are found right outside the airport terminal exit to take you to your destination. There is also a taxi rank located outisde the main Pisa Centrale train station. The journey to Pisa city centre takes just 10 minutes traffic permitting.

By car:

From the airport you can get straight onto the Florence-Pisa-Livorno dual carriageway taking the Pisa Centro – Aeroporto on-ramp, or to the Genova-Rosignano A12 motorway also via the Pisa Centro on-ramp, the Firenze-Pisa Nord A11 motorway (through the Pisa Nord linking stretch with the A12), and onto road SS 1 “Aurelia”. The journey into Pisa city centre by car should take no more than a few minutes. The journey to Florence is only 80 km from Pisa or one hour drive. There is no toll on the Florence-Pisa-Livorno highway or the SS1 Aurelia, however the A11, and A12 have tolls.

The Car Rental companies operating in the arrivals area of the air terminal offer a fleet of more than 400 vehicles including cars, vans, minibuses and campers. Even if you arrive on the last flight, you will always find at least one company expecting you and ready to meet your requirements. However, we recommend booking your car in advance.
