Florence for kids

You may think that Florence only caters for adults being very cultural and historical with the Duomo and the Uffizi, but there are many things you can take your children to, to keep them occupied that doesn’t involve looking at churches or statues.

Museums

Concerning the museums, some have specific children’s programmes for which you must book ahead. The Museo dei Ragazzi within the Palazzo Vecchio has storytelling, costumed re-enactments and a behind the scenes tour of the palace’s secret passages. The Stibbert Museum (the English Version is coming soon) holds a massive collection of armour, swords and shields in an old villa north of the city, while the Museo di Storia della Scienza is home to intriguing objects and inventions such as Galileo’s telescope and (rather more scary) his middle finger!!
