Art Galleries and Museums in Florence

There are many Art Galleries and Museums available for you to see in Florence. Some of the most popular are listed below. You will find that a lot of the them focus around the Renaissance period. The galleries show, not only work by modern and classical artists, but by local and world renowned artists too.

This gallery has 11 rooms full of 13th to 18th centuries paintings, although many of the artists are not well-known. There is a fine collection of 14th-to 16th-century altarpieces and 16th-century tapestries. One of the most famous pieces to be found here is the Statue of David.

The famous and enormous Uffizi Gallery leads all the way down to the banks of the River Arno and the wonderful collection of art work is arranged to illustrate the story of art in Florence. There are many famous masterpieces on display and these works of art include Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, Titian’s Venus of Urbino, Michelangelo’s Holy Family and Piero della Francesca’s Duke and Duchess of Urbino. It also features work from the famous Leonardo Di Vinci.
